Doing Genesis Maintenance? It Pays to Stick to a Schedule

Whether a G70, a G80, or otherwise, a Genesis car or SUV represents the pinnacle of luxury and performance; it goes without saying that you want to keep yours in top shape. There's a simple way to do that: stay on top of the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual.

Here's a shorthand for how. Follow it, and your manual's specifics, to the letter, and not only can you maintain your vehicle's value and ensure its resale value. You can also keep it a pleasure to drive for many miles more.

1. Make a Comprehensive Checklist

Note any repairs done, pending, and planned, including replacements and upgrades. Then, using your manual's schedules, make a list you can compare to; it should have regular, seasonal, and long-term maintenance info on it -- what to do, and when to do it. (Even better, how to do it.) Keep track of everything you do, too.

2. Take Care of the Regular

This includes checking the motor oil and oil filter (every 3,000 miles or every 3 months), checking the cabin and engine air filters (every 12,000 to 15,000), flushing and topping off fluids, and replacing any necessary parts. You should also check tire pressure and tread depths, and do a tire rotation if needed. Finish up by waxing the car body for protection.

3. Keep Up with the Seasonal

This includes checking coolant levels and topping them off if needed, plus inspecting the car battery's condition and replacing it if necessary (both every few months or so, as the seasons change). You should also put on the right windshield wiper blades and tires for your climate.

4. Don't Neglect the Long Term

This includes checking transmission, differential, transfer case, and radiator fluids, plus inspecting the shocks and struts (about every 50,000 miles) the spark plugs (every 18,000 to 100,000 miles, depending on type), and the serpentine belt (every 90,000 miles or so). Flush and replace fluids as needed, replace any necessary parts, and either tighten or change the belt -- whatever's called for.

5. Choose Genuine OEM Parts for Repairs and Upgrades

They'll be the Genesis quality you're accustomed to, and guaranteed to fit. Plus, they won't void your warranty, a risk you'd be taking buying aftermarket. You're in luck; we carry a wide selection, and at steep markdowns. You're welcome to contact a Genesis dealer if you need help installing anything.
